Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, one of the most famous ballets of all time, is hoping to set new records this summer as it is beamed live into over 1100 cinema screens around the world in 3D.
Along with around 130 UK cinemas, Bath's Odeon on James St West will be taking part in the event on Thursday, June 6 at 6.15pm.
This will be the first time ballet has been broadcast live in 3D.
The performance of Swan Lake marks 275 years of Russian Ballet and will be filmed live at the Mariinksy Theatre in St Petersburg, Russia, the city it was created in.
Oscar winners James Cameron and Vince Pace, famous for 3D productions Avatar and Life of Pi, will be filming the production.
Fans of the ballet have the opportunity to watch the performance in high definition in 3D, as it happens, at their local cinema.
Swan Lake tells a love story between Odette, a princess under a curse that turns her into a swan by day, and Prince Siegfried.
They meet as Prince Siegfried is out hunting at night and Odette transforms from a swan into a beautiful woman before his eyes.
The dancers will bring Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov's choreography to life for cinema goers worldwide to see.
More than 280,000 tickets are anticipated to be sold for this unique worldwide event, which is more than some of 2013's biggest events including Glastonbury.
The finest artists in the world will feature in the ballet, including conductor Valery Gergiev, director of the Mariinsky Theatre and principal ballerina Ekaterina Kondaurova, who will be both Odette and Odile on the night of the 3D live broadcast.
British Ross MacGibbon, a former Royal Ballet dancer, will be ballet film director.
Valery Gergiev said: "Mariinsky Live 3D format is something totally new not only for us but also for the whole world. James Cameron is Mr 3D so we all know that if you team up with him something magical should happen".
