With a unique mix of old film of Bath, a collection of old photographs and local news stories from the archives of the Chronicle, a new DVD takes a fascinating look back at life in Bath in times gone by.

The story starts in August 1840 as cheering crowds greet the arrival of the railway, and ends in 1973 with Bath commemorating one of the highlights of its ancient history. In between, the impact of two World Wars, happy times and sad, controversy, tragedy and landmarks in the city's history have been captured on film and photograph and also documented by the Chronicle, and this priceless archive of local life provides a wonderful opportunity to look back at the way we were.

Among the many images of old Bath, the DVD includes extraordinary colour film of the Bath blitz which, combined with the moving eye-witness accounts of Chronicle reporters who toured the ruined city, recall the most dramatic event in Bath's history.
