Broadcaster and geologist Iain Stewart visited Box to open the Rock Circus.
The stone circle of rocks, fossils and minerals is designed to help children understand science and geology.
Mr Stewart, who is professor of geoscience communication at the University of Plymouth, has appeared in a number of television documentaries talking about geology. He visited the site to open it, and meet people who had been involved in the creation.
Spokeswoman Elizabeth Devon said: "Box Rock Circus is a circle of rocks designed for recreational and educational purposes.
"All main rock types are represented, the large blocks show Britain's movement through time and the two sets of dinosaur footprints through the circle lend themselves to many different scenarios."
