Bath jewellers Nicholas Wylde back in business days after fire

A Bath jewellery store has reopened just days after its shop was destroyed by fire.

Nicholas Wylde Jewellery Design and Goldsmith has opened a temporary store in the city at Old Bond Street, in the former premises of Clive Ranger, thanks to landlord St John's Hospital.

The move comes after Nicholas Wylde's shop on Northumberland Place was devastated by fire earlier this month.

Owner Mr Wylde, who also has a store in Bristol, said the work to reopen the Bath shop could take between four to six months, but the company hoped to be back in its own premises by September 1.

In the meantime customers are being reassured that the jeweller has been able to honour all commissions. All jewellery in the Nicholas Wylde store was kept in a fireproof safe overnight.

Mr Wylde said: "The impossible was made possible by the availability of the old shop.

"It is amazing that we have our name, and the services we offer, back up to speed within a matter of days.

"Our customers awaiting their commissioned items have not been disappointed, especially those for forthcoming special occasions."
