One of Bath's best-known tourist sites is to become the backdrop for a display of lights and animations.

The successful Illuminate Bath event is returning for one night only.

It is focusing its attention on Pulteney Bridge.

As soon as the light falls tomorrow evening, expected to be at around 10pm, a series of animations will be projected on to the side of the bridge.

They will be based on the Bath International Music Festival's themes of myths, monsters and mystics.

Event creative director Anthony Head has been working on the project with support from Enlightened Lighting, as well as graphic communication and fine arts students.

He said: "It's wonderful to follow up from the jubilee projections we did last year, with another projection on Pulteney Bridge. The Bath Spa University collaboration with Enlightened Lighting and Bath Festivals provides an opportunity for our students to have their work seen by thousands of people."

Previous Illuminate events have included people being able to see the Roman Baths bathed in colour, interactive installations where children have chased spotlights and cyclists using bikes to create a light show.

This year's Illuminate Bath is part of the Creative Futures 2013 showcase of the talent at Bath Spa. This is running throughout May and June and features a variety of exhibitions, films, performances and events, including an art exhibition at Bath Abbey.
