Dozens of residents were evacuated from their homes in Devizes, Wiltshire, last night after an arrested man told police there were explosives in his flat.
The bomb squad was called in to investigate following the arrest of a man on suspicion of causing criminal damage.
Nearly 50 people were moved from their homes in Mayenne Place as a precaution. Inspector for Devizes Matt Armstrong said: "Public safety is paramount."
