Police have said they are no longer appealing for witnesses after a man was found collapsed in the city more than a week ago.

A 24-year-old man was found unconscious in Beechen Cliff Road at around 4.30am on Friday, May 3.

Initially officers said they were investigating the circumstances that led to the man's injuries but police have now confirmed they are no longer treating the incident as suspicious.

DC Andy Bessell, from Bath CID, said: "The indications are now that it was an accident.

"The injured man has been transferred to the RUH where his condition is much improved."

A man was left with serious facial injuries after being attacked in broad daylight outside Bath bus station.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault on the 53-year-old man, which happened at around 11.30am on Monday of last week.

The victim was sitting on a bench by the Dorchester Street station when his assailant asked him for a light before punching him twice in the face and walking off.

His attacker is described as white, in his 30s, around 6ft tall and of thin build with short dark hair.
