Bath Rugby back Kyle Eastmond has been handed his first England call-up after today being named in the squad for this summer's Barbarians game and three-match tour to Uruguay and Argentina. Davey Wilson retains his place from head coach Stuart Lancaster's Six Nations squad, while club-mates Dave Attwood and Rob Webber return to the Red Rose set-up. Jonathan Joseph, who will join Bath from London Irish this summer, is also named in the 32-man camp. Sale Sharks' former King Edward's pupil Henry Thomas joins Eastmond as one of 11 uncapped players called up, while ex-Bath Academy member and Beechen Cliff student Freddie Burns, now at Gloucester, is also selected. Northampton Saints' Tom Wood was named as captain in the absence of the rested Chris Robshaw, and the group includes five players aged 21 or under. "We're really looking forward to this tour and we've selected a young and exciting side which I'm sure will do the country proud in a tough series of matches," said head coach Lancaster "The key principles in selection were threefold: first and foremost to win the games but also to develop strength in depth and more options in certain positions, and to give one or two players a physical and mental break. "We feel we've got the balance right and have given places to a number of players who have shone in the Aviva Premiership this season, one or two who have been on the fringes for a while, and several players who have been involved over the last year or so. This is everyone's chance to step up. "Tom Wood will captain the side and I am sure he will do a fantastic job, as he has the respect of all the players and management and we are looking forward to other leaders developing in the absence of some senior players. "A few are being rested after a hard campaign but they will, of course, be considered by the British & Irish Lions should they be required." Eastmond's selection continues his rapid rise in union ranks, with the 23-year-old enjoying an impressive first full season at The Rec, after injury initially held him back following his cross-code switch from St Helens in November 2011. Originally deployed on the wing, Bath head coach Gary Gold moved him to inside centre earlier this year which resulted in a first call-up to the England Saxons squad. His form raised murmurings of a surprise inclusion on the British & Irish Lions tour to Australia this summer. When that failed to materialise, England coach Lancaster was quick to come calling. England will kick off their summer matches when they take on the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday, May 26. Bath duo Francois Louw and Paul James have both named in the Baa-Baas squad, which will also face the Lions in Hong Kong on Saturday, June 1. Lancaster's men then travel to Montevideo, Uruguay to face a CONSUR XV representing the South American nations on June 2. They then face two Tests against Argentina in Salta, on June 8, and Buenos Aires, on June 15. Meanwhile, Bath's Tom Heathcote will look to add to his solitary Scotland cap after being named in squad to tour South Africa this summer.
