Head coach Gary Gold says Bath Rugby are not getting caught up in any Heineken Cup permutations and are
instead solely focused on beating Aviva Premiership leaders Saracens in their final game of the season.
Seventh-placed Bath must record victory at Allianz Park on Saturday (2.30pm) and hope Gloucester beat Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park if they are to climb into the top six and rejoin Europe's elite next term.
Gold is refusing to get carried away with what can and cannot happen, however, and is only interested in ensuring Bath finish the season in the best possible way.
"We will go there and try to win and whatever happens, happens – that's out of our hands," said Gold.
"I'm not worried about what happens in the other games at all. If there's anything that's going to take my attention away from us winning then I don't want it.
"We've got it all to play for in one game and then our season is over. That's definite.
"We can actually end the season in quite a good way if we play well."
Bath should be given credit for ensuring the fight for the top six goes to the wire despite facing Harlequins, Leicester Tigers and Sarries in their final three league games.
A bonus-point win over Leicester a fortnight ago kept their hopes alive but Gold acknowledged they face a similarly tough task against a Saracens side who saw their dreams of Heineken Cup glory ended by Toulon on Sunday.
"There was a potential that if we messed up against Leicester we'd have nothing to play for," said Gold. "The challenge was laid to the players, a challenge laid to us as coaches, and so far we've been able to rise to the occasion.
"It was a massive challenge to play Harlequins, Leicester and Saracens in the last three games but the guys were pretty psyched about it.
"We were in a very good space mentality to want to take on the challenge because we've let ourselves down on certain occasions during the season.
"The great thing about rugby is that you get another chance and what better opportunity than getting a chance against the top three teams in England, who are arguably in the top five teams in Europe.
"It's going to be very, very tough this weekend. They are unbeaten at home and now have a couple of Lions players in their squad.
"They are not going to be happy and I can't remember the last time Sarries lost two games in a row.
"They are going to want to get back to winning ways. It's going to be a fierce battle but it's an exciting challenge."
The return to fitness of Tom Biggs has boosted Bath's injury-plagued back-line, although Nick Abendanon is still out.
Captain Stuart Hooper is also fit to return after missing the previous victory over Leicester.
"Biggsy is available but Bendy's still out," added Gold.
"Jack Cuthbert is training, Sam Vesty is training but Dan Hipkiss is struggling and Matt Banahan is obviously out for a long time still.
"Unfortunately that's what we've got left but we will see what we can do."
